The Complete Procedure, Section by Section
Joining JASKO involves more than submitting an application. Below is the complete hiring and onboarding procedure — all seven sections, with the full checklist for each — so you know exactly what happens, what you need to do, and what JASKO does at every step. Our office tracks each item’s status, timestamps, and approvals internally; what you see here is the whole procedure, start to finish. One rule runs through all of it: finishing paperwork alone never releases a driver for dispatch — Safety’s release and Dispatch’s acceptance come first.
Come prepared. Understand JASKO’s operations and expectations, and be ready to discuss your driving experience, professional record, and reasons for joining our team.
What happens: You tell us about yourself, your CDL experience, your location, and the type of position you’re seeking. Recruiting reviews your basic qualifications before asking you to complete the full application.
What you need to do: Share your name and contact information, home ZIP code, CDL class, years of OTR experience, home-time needs, and availability.
What JASKO does: Recruiting reviews your experience and driving background, discusses pay and home-time expectations, your travel to our Buckeye, Arizona terminal, and — for drivers outside the Phoenix metro area — home parking arrangements for the assigned truck and trailer.
Section checklist
- ☐Receive inquiry and capture driver contact information
- ☐Confirm minimum age and Class A CDL
- ☐Review OTR experience and driving history
- ☐Confirm home location and anticipated home-time schedule
- ☐Discuss travel to the Buckeye terminal
- ☐Evaluate home truck/trailer parking, if applicable
- ☐Discuss compensation expectations and job requirements
- ☐Approve candidate to submit full application
What’s next: If it looks like a fit, Recruiting invites you to complete the full driver application.
What happens: You complete the full driver application and authorizations, and JASKO verifies your qualifications.
What you need to do: Complete the application at drive4jasko.com/apply with accurate CDL, driving-history, and previous-employer information, sign the required authorizations, and respond promptly to requests for documents.
What JASKO does: JASKO reviews your CDL status, motor vehicle record, and medical qualification, verifies your employment and safety history, and checks that you meet JASKO’s insurability requirements — eligibility is determined by JASKO. Anything outstanding or unclear is identified and requested.
Section checklist
- ☐Receive complete signed driver application
- ☐Collect required investigation authorizations
- ☐Review CDL status, MVR and medical qualifications
- ☐Review previous employment and safety history
- ☐Examine violations, accidents and applicable insurability requirements — eligibility is determined by JASKO
- ☐Identify outstanding documents or discrepancies
- ☐Complete preliminary qualification decision
What’s next: A preliminary qualification decision. If the reviews are satisfactory, JASKO may issue a conditional employment offer.
What happens: The conditional offer is finalized: required consents, the FMCSA Clearinghouse query, DOT drug testing, and a final eligibility review, with your start date coordinated.
What you need to do: Complete the required authorizations and Clearinghouse consent, complete your scheduled DOT drug testing, and confirm your start date and terminal arrival plans. Do not make nonrefundable travel arrangements without confirmation from Recruiting.
What JASKO does: JASKO completes the required pre-duty qualification checks and issues your orientation confirmation with arrival instructions.
Section checklist
- ☐Issue conditional employment offer
- ☐Complete required FMCSA Clearinghouse pre-employment query
- ☐Obtain verified negative DOT pre-employment drug test or document applicable exception
- ☐Confirm all legally required pre-duty qualification checks
- ☐Approve anticipated hire date and arrival arrangements
- ☐Issue orientation confirmation
What’s next: You’re cleared to attend orientation on the confirmed date.
What happens: Employment setup: paperwork, payroll, company policies, and your driver record and accounts. This section applies to JASKO Enterprises, Inc. company drivers (W-2 employees).
What you need to do: Bring acceptable Form I-9 identity and work-authorization documents, have your CDL and any requested medical documentation available, have banking information ready for direct deposit, and provide emergency contacts. Review the company policies and sign the required acknowledgments.
What JASKO does: HR and Payroll complete your employment forms, tax setup, direct deposit, and system activation under the detailed checklist below.

Official forms: JASKO uses current government-issued forms rather than recreating them — Federal W-4 (IRS), Arizona A-4 (Arizona Department of Revenue), Federal I-9 (USCIS); the Direct Deposit / ACH form is JASKO’s internal form. Arizona employees subject to Arizona withholding generally complete Form A-4 within five days of employment; otherwise Arizona specifies a 2.0% default withholding rate. For OTR drivers residing outside Arizona, Payroll determines the applicable state withholding obligations rather than automatically applying Arizona withholding.
ACH authorization covers employee identification, bank and account information, authorization for payroll deposits, authorization for legally permitted corrections of erroneous deposits, employee signature, and effective date. Banking information is collected through a secure onboarding process — never by ordinary email or chat — and account changes require independent verification before Payroll updates them.
Completion rule: this section requires three separate approvals — HR (employment forms and acknowledgments), Payroll (tax setup, pay rate, and ACH instructions verified), and Safety (driver qualification and compliance approvals, handled separately). HR paperwork approval does not by itself authorize driving or dispatch.
What’s next: Orientation and training. Completing onboarding paperwork alone does not release you for dispatch — that authorization comes at Stage 6.
What happens: Training on safety procedures, hours of service and the ELD, refrigerated freight, equipment operation, and company systems — with required demonstrations, including JASKO’s road test.
What you need to do: Attend the full orientation, complete the training and knowledge checks, and demonstrate safe operation, inspections, and reefer procedures. Bring suitable clothing and personal supplies for OTR travel.
What JASKO does: JASKO trains you on the systems used in daily operations — ELD, communication, and paperwork tools — verifies that training is complete, and administers the road test.
Section checklist
- ☐Review hours of service and ELD operation
- ☐Review safe driving, dashcam and incident reporting policies
- ☐Train on DVIR and truck/trailer pre-trip inspections
- ☐Train on refrigerated freight and reefer operating modes
- ☐Train on company communication updates and paperwork submission
- ☐Review fuel cards, trip expenses and toll procedures
- ☐Complete JASKO’s road test (see below)
- ☐Verify completion of training and knowledge checks
Road Test & Driving Evaluation — mandatory
Owner: Safety / Qualified Road Test Examiner. When: during orientation, before independent dispatch. JASKO requires an actual, documented road test for every new company driver, regardless of experience — a stricter company standard than the federal equivalents permitted under 49 CFR §§ 391.31–391.33.
- ☐Verify CDL and driver identity
- ☐Confirm driver is legally cleared to operate for the test
- ☐Complete tractor and trailer pre-trip inspection
- ☐Demonstrate coupling and uncoupling procedures
- ☐Demonstrate safe backing and maneuvering
- ☐Evaluate starting, stopping, shifting (if applicable), turning, lane positioning, and following distance
- ☐Evaluate highway and city driving
- ☐Observe mirror usage, intersection clearance, railroad crossings, and hazard recognition
- ☐Confirm safe parking, securing equipment, and post-trip inspection
- ☐Complete and sign road test evaluation
- ☐Issue and retain the required road test certificate
- ☐Record Pass / Fail / Retraining Required
- ☐Obtain Safety approval before first dispatch
JASKO standard: No driver is released for independent dispatch until the driver has passed JASKO’s road test and all other required pre-duty qualifications. The signed evaluation and certificate are kept in the Driver Qualification (DQ) file, and the driver receives a copy of the certificate. Forms: JASKO-HR-F01 — Driver Road Test Evaluation (PDF) · JASKO-HR-F02 — Certificate of Driver’s Road Test (PDF).
What’s next: Equipment assignment and dispatch readiness.
What happens: Your tractor and trailer are assigned and inspected, equipment is issued, and system access is verified — ending with the formal release for dispatch.
What you need to do: Inspect your assigned equipment together with the team, report existing defects, and confirm your ELD, fuel card, and required system access all work before you leave.
What JASKO does: Maintenance documents the equipment inspection and issued items; Safety records the formal release; Dispatch confirms acceptance and first-load readiness.
Section checklist
- ☐Assign tractor and trailer
- ☐Inspect equipment and document existing defects
- ☐Issue keys, fobs, load locks, chains and other equipment
- ☐Verify ELD, fuel card and required app access
- ☐Verify available HOS, equipment and reefer readiness
- ☐Document formal Safety release
- ☐Confirm Dispatch acceptance and first-load readiness
What’s next: Your first load.
What happens: You receive your first assignment and run it with Dispatch guiding the trip.
What you need to do: Review the load instructions — pickup appointment, route, commodity, and temperature — send the required status updates, and submit your proof of delivery and bills of lading.
What JASKO does: Dispatch reviews the first assignment with you, monitors the trip’s milestones, and completes a first-trip review with you afterward.
Section checklist
- ☐Assign and review first load with driver
- ☐Verify pickup appointment, route, commodity and temperature
- ☐Explain load-specific communication requirements
- ☐Confirm first pickup and loading procedures are understood
- ☐Monitor first-trip milestones and respond to issues
- ☐Verify required POD/BOL and other documentation
- ☐Complete first-trip performance and support review
What’s next: You’re an active JASKO driver, running under normal dispatch.
How Your Progress Is Tracked
One driver record follows you from the first inquiry through your first completed load. Every candidate carries one of these statuses, and three sign-offs gate the process: Recruiting confirms you are approved to proceed, Safety confirms you are legally qualified and released, and Dispatch confirms the equipment and first load are ready. Onboarding (employment setup), Orientation (training and demonstrating readiness), and Dispatch Readiness (final operational authorization) are separate gates — completing one never substitutes for the others.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| New Inquiry | Candidate entered the system |
| Prescreening | Recruiting is checking eligibility |
| Application Pending | Awaiting complete application |
| Under Review | Safety and qualification checks in progress |
| Conditional Offer | Preliminary acceptance, conditions outstanding |
| Cleared for Orientation | Approved to attend scheduled orientation |
| Orientation in Progress | Training, paperwork and equipment setup |
| Dispatch Ready | Safety release and operational readiness complete |
| Active — First Dispatch | Driver assigned first load |
| On Hold / Declined / Withdrawn | Record retained with reason and appropriate access controls |
