Driver Pay & Incentives

1. Pay Overview — Professional Work. Clear Compensation. Weekly Pay.

At JASKO Enterprises, Inc., drivers should understand how they are compensated before accepting a position or entering into a contractor agreement. The company-driver and owner-operator programs have different compensation structures, responsibilities, and payment arrangements. Explore the programs below and speak with Recruiting about current terms — confirmed practices, policy-based additional pay, and programs still in development are labeled as such, separately.

  • Transparent compensation: your approved pay rate and applicable programs are explained during Recruiting.
  • Company drivers: mileage-based compensation with qualifying additional pay and incentives.
  • Owner-operators: a separate Independent Contractor Agreement with percentage-based compensation.
  • Weekly payments: company-driver payroll is processed weekly through ACH direct deposit.
  • Additional earnings: eligible drivers may earn detention, layover, additional stop pay, inspection bonuses, and other qualifying compensation.
  • Written terms: eligibility, documentation, and exclusions are governed by JASKO policies or signed agreements.
  • Programs under development: proposed incentives are identified separately and are not guaranteed until formally approved.

Starting Mileage Compensation

  • Starting total compensation ranges from $0.55 to $0.60 per mile (CPM).
  • Individual starting rates are determined by driving experience, safety record, qualifications, refrigerated freight experience, employment history, road test results, and overall suitability.
  • The approved rate is confirmed before employment.
  • Top-performing drivers can earn materially more than their starting CPM.

Per Diem

  • Qualifying per diem may account for up to $0.10 CPM of the driver’s total compensation.
  • Per diem is included within the advertised $0.55–$0.60 CPM range — it is not an additional $0.10 CPM on top of the rate.
  • Eligibility and payroll treatment follow applicable tax rules and JASKO policy.

Driver Value Pay

  • Eligible drivers may earn up to an additional $0.05 CPM.
  • Evaluation factors include safe driving and compliance; dependability and dispatch flexibility; timely communication; proper equipment care and preventive reporting; customer and service performance; and fuel and operating efficiency.
  • Qualification and payment are subject to the applicable Driver Value Pay policy.

Production Pay

  • 12,000 qualifying paid miles in a month: additional $0.01 CPM.
  • 13,000 or more qualifying paid miles in a month: additional $0.02 CPM.
  • Monthly qualification and calculation rules are governed by the Production Pay policy.

Weekly Minimum

  • Qualifying drivers who remain available for dispatch and accept lawful, safe, and reasonable assignments may be eligible for a $1,500 weekly minimum.
  • Eligibility depends on the approved program requirements — the minimum is not an unconditional guarantee for every payroll week.

Mileage compensation is only one part of a professional driver’s earnings. JASKO pays for qualifying work and delays:

Detention — $17.50 per Hour

  • Applies when a driver is held at a shipper or receiver.
  • The first two qualifying hours are unpaid; eligible detention time after the free period is paid at $17.50 per hour.
  • Maximum payment is $125 per qualifying 24-hour period.
  • Arrival, departure, and delay documentation must satisfy JASKO policy.

Layover — $125

  • Paid after each completed qualifying 24-hour period of lost productive availability.
  • The qualifying period begins after delivery or drop when the driver is released, legally rested, and available for the next assignment.
  • Required Hours-of-Service rest does not count as lost productive availability.
  • Detention and layover cannot be collected for the same period — the category converts; they never stack.

Bobtail / Available Standby — $17.50 per Hour

  • Applies to qualifying periods when the driver has been released from the prior assignment and is available while awaiting the next assignment.
  • Payment depends on the applicable standby eligibility and documentation requirements.

Additional Stop — $35

  • Paid for qualifying additional stops under JASKO’s approved compensation policy, supported by dispatch and trip documentation.

Driver Assist / Local Work — $25 per Hour

  • Applies to qualifying driver-assist duties or approved local work meeting the authorization and documentation requirements.

Approved Mechanical Work — $25 per Hour

  • Applies when a driver performs mechanical work authorized by JASKO. Only approved and documented work qualifies.

How Drivers Are Paid

  • Company-driver payroll is processed weekly, through ACH direct deposit.
  • Drivers provide and maintain accurate banking information.
  • Payroll includes qualifying mileage compensation, accessorials, and applicable incentives, at the driver’s approved rate.

Reviewing Your Pay

  • Review your pay information through the driver portal — paid miles, additional compensation, and adjustments.
  • Report missing accessorials or discrepancies through the payroll inquiry process, with trip documents and supporting records available.

Clean DOT Inspection Bonuses

  • Level I: $150.
  • Level II: $100.
  • Level III: $50.
  • Inspection documentation and eligibility must satisfy JASKO’s bonus policy.

Driver Referral Bonus — $1,000

  • Available for qualifying driver referrals, subject to the referral program’s eligibility and completion requirements.

Loyalty / Retention Bonus — up to $1,500

  • Recognizes qualifying continued service with JASKO; eligibility and payment depend on the applicable retention program.

Paid Orientation — $400

  • Available to qualifying company-driver hires under JASKO’s orientation compensation policy.

Programs Under Development

The following are not yet part of the approved advertised compensation package; amounts, eligibility, and effective dates have not been finalized:

  • Peterbilt equipment incentive.
  • Trailer Drop Pay for qualifying assignments.

Owner-operators operate independent businesses under written agreements with JASKO — they are not on employee payroll.

Percentage Compensation

  • 85% of eligible load revenue — approved contractors using their own trailer, an independently rented trailer, or qualifying power-only arrangements.
  • 75% of eligible load revenue — approved contractors using a JASKO-provided trailer.
  • Compensation is calculated according to the eligible revenue definition and settlement provisions in the signed agreement.

JASKO-Provided Trailer

  • No separate trailer rental fee under the standard 75% arrangement.
  • JASKO provides routine trailer maintenance and trailer insurance.
  • The contractor is responsible for reefer fuel and contractually assigned equipment damage or expenses.

General Security Escrow — $2,500

  • Required for every independent contractor, regardless of trailer ownership or location.
  • Funded through deductions of $250–$500 per settlement until fully established.
  • Secures documented, contractually authorized outstanding obligations such as fuel, tolls, authorized card charges, and other unsettled expenses.

Additional Trailer Security Escrow — $2,500 (Out-of-State)

  • Applies only to out-of-state contractors using a JASKO-provided trailer.
  • Provides additional security for the return of JASKO-owned equipment and authorized recovery-related expenses.
  • Arizona-based contractors are not charged this additional trailer escrow.

Optional Maintenance Escrow

  • Contractors may elect a separate reserve for future maintenance and repairs.

Insurance & Operating Programs

  • Primary auto liability is provided under JASKO’s authority at no separate contractor charge.
  • Cargo insurance through JASKO’s program: $250 per month, with a $5,000 deductible.
  • Occupational Accident coverage through JASKO’s program: $165.00 per month; acceptable coverage is required.
  • Physical damage coverage may be obtained independently or through JASKO, priced by insured value.
  • Fuel cards, toll programs, ELD services, and approved purchasing accounts are available under applicable program terms.

Settlements

  • Contractor settlements are processed weekly once required load documentation is received, and are governed by the signed Independent Contractor Agreement.
  • Escrow balances are reconciled following termination, with remaining amounts refunded within 45 days, under the agreement and applicable law.
  • All authorized charges and deductions are identified in the contractor’s written agreement and applicable schedules.

See the Owner-Operator Program page for requirements, programs, and how to get started.

Paid Vacation

  • Eligible company drivers receive five paid vacation days annually after one year of employment.
  • Vacation eligibility, scheduling, and payment follow JASKO’s applicable policy.

Paid Holidays

JASKO recognizes six paid holidays for eligible company drivers:

  • New Year’s Day.
  • Memorial Day.
  • Independence Day.
  • Labor Day.
  • Thanksgiving Day.
  • Christmas Day.

Holiday eligibility, qualifying conditions, and payment are governed by company policy. These benefits apply to eligible company-driver employees, not independent contractors.

Example — Standard Mileage Compensation

  • Approved total mileage rate: $0.55 CPM, including qualifying per diem.
  • Qualifying paid miles: 2,800.
  • Mileage calculation: 2,800 × $0.55 = mileage earnings of $1,540.00.

Additional Compensation

Depending on eligibility, the driver may also earn detention pay, layover pay, additional stop pay, approved local or mechanical work, and qualifying incentives and bonuses.

Illustrative weekly earnings: $1,540.00 in mileage earnings, plus qualifying additional compensation. The final payroll amount depends on applicable pay rules and payroll adjustments. This is an illustration, not a guarantee of weekly earnings.
